Mobile and Online Messaging Traffic To Reach 438 Billion Per Day By 2019

According to new data from Juniper Research shows that mobile and online messaging traffic will reach 160 trillion per year by 2019, equating to around 438 billion messages a day. This includes SMS, MMS, OTT Instant Messaging, Social and Email.

SMS is still holding strong, is expected to stay that way with continual rise for the next few years.

From a B2B perspective, SMS – mainly A2P SMS is seen as more reliable and accessible than OTT messaging. This is used for services such as verification and notification. A2P revenues in 2019 are expected to rise from $62.8bn this year to $70bn in 2019.
